You just run gpg -b gparted-xxx.tar.bz2 and it will generate a gparted-xxx.tar.bz2.sig file. If you don't already have your own key then you'll need to generate one with gpg --gen-key and upload it to the public key servers with --send-keys so that others can fetch it and use it to verify the signature. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.17 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJSq1FRAAoJEI5FoCIzSKrw5Z8H/1j9a/3vyNLvF4pcJ2qdw+yO 5moIrvO61JM14Kx1/r3GtxIbfNIBCNrT0xstYIHjsDu10UGjj+dXksjcjpCTNJCY j7RFX/qSDHdWnGSk0OVEY6m2jhMFt1EZ2xUXZh9A6ioKoRAulrSzfKA6rcEuoyEi 9J6satYgr0np94KIaBhpQEC+eMAuJUHyIP3kqGewGziAxmC0q3Wmtlz2MyJmJ6nD GwOdCIqDr/LSOFg6gBM6AuXcel7Phh4amigcAUvWbrT8aRU1Fuk0xbS2Uw7zrEiW PXn1NlbcK5EdT+dJ5LVxDuHurN1yLlrxQms1rjKZhjt8Vpxxvmj74/5ztn8+6tM= =jUEa -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

Do you have a link to a good document where I can learn how to do this? Note that the release notes file is in "markdown" format so I'm not sure what will happen if the file also includes a gpg signature. http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/ Curtis |

Hey Curtis, I noticed that you put the md5sum of the tarball in the release notes file, but there is no signature so there is no way to verify that it hasn't been modified as well. Thank you Steven for confirming the configure option. This led me to test compiling within the gparted-live-0.17.0-beta1-2 images for both i486 and amd64. In both cases, the --enable-online-resize flag appears to have failed to enable online resizing as seen in the "View -> File System Support" dialog. I tested in Ubuntu 13.10 and the --enable-online-resize flag _did_ work. Next I tested in Debian 8 Jessie and the --enable-online-resize flag _does not_ appear to work. Since all of the above have Linux kernel > 3.6 and libparted 2.3-16, I still haven't figured out why this doesn't work on Debian. Mike and Phillip, Any ideas to troubleshoot the problem of --enable-online-resize not working on debian? Regards, Curtis |

From the build log here: http://free.nchc.org.tw/drbl-core/pool/drbl/live-unstable/gparted/gparted_0.17.0.beta1-drbl2_i386.build I can see this line: CFLAGS="-Wall -g -O3" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-z,defs -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed" ./configure --host=i486-linux-gnu --build=i486-linux-gnu --prefix=/usr --mandir=\${prefix}/share/man --infodir=\${prefix}/share/info --disable-doc --enable-online-resize Looks like it's used already. I downloaded gparted-live-0.17.0-beta1-2-i486.iso and tested in a VM. Unfortunately, the online resize options do not appear to be available. I tried mounting an ext4 file system and then running GParted, but the option to resize ext4 is not available. This can also be seen in the "View -> File System Support" dialog where none of the file systems have the double check-mark in the Grow column. The gparted live image includes linux-image-3.11-2-486 (which is greater than the online resize required kernel 3.6), and parted-2.3-16 (which includes the online resize patches). The only other requirement is the --enable-online-resize configure flag. This has me baffled as to why online resize does not appear to be enabled. Would you be able to double-check the "--enable-online-resize" configure flag to ensure that it is indeed enabled when configuring and building the gparted application? Thanks, Curtis |

Thanks, Curtis |

Steven, when you build the official gparted-live-0.17.0 release would you please add the --enable-online-resize config option along side the existing --disable-doc config option? Because the live image does not mount any file systems, the --enable-online-resize config option is not normally needed. Having said that, a user might mount a file system and wish to perform an online resize. Also having this option enabled will allow me to test it more thoroughly. Curtis |
