I don't know if SE 1.2 can target JVM, but if it does and will do
in the future, then it's probably better not to use external "C".
During the past 10 years the policy of the Gobo kernel classes
adapter was to only use features provided by the supported
compilers and not introduce new external routines. It would be
great if we could continue to do that during the next 10 years.
