Generic & Emebedded Targets:

GNU SIP Witch should compile for any posix target with full support for C++ and
optionally the C++ ansi standard library.  For deeply embedded targets, the
ansi c++ library (libstdc++ for gcc) can be disabled when the dependent ucommon
is built, and sipwitch will then similarly be build without requiring
exception handling or c++ library features.  

GNU SIP Witch can also be built either with dynamic linking to support runtime
plugin loading, or with pure static linking.  When statically linked, all
selected plugins have to be defined at configure time and are compiled
statically linked to the server.

Microsoft Windows & MingW32 specific notes:

GNU SIP Witch has been successfully built using mingw32 on a Debian GNU/Linux 
hosted system.  However, this environment really only supports static linking.
It should be possible to build sipwitch using Microsoft native compilers, and
perhaps with native runtime library support from ucommon for loading plugins.

If people wish to submit patches for code changes based on using native
Microsoft compilers, they will be accepted so long as they do not break other
build environments.  We do not recommend or even suggest the use of proprietary
compilers on proprietary operating systems, and we will continue to work to
make the debian hosted mingw build environment as effective for building our
packages as we can.

FreeBSD specific notes:

For FreeBSD, eXosip2 (and sipwitch) require the Posix semaphore library.  This
can be installed with a kldload sem, or by adding sem_load="YES" to
/boot/loader.conf.  Without the semaphore driver, you will get an "unknown
system call 12" when you try to start sipwitch.

Platforms sipwitch has been known to build on:

GNU/Linux, various distros, gcc 2.95 or later
OpenSolaris (0408 or later)
FreeBSD (6, 7, maybe older ones...)
OpenBSD (4.x)
OS/X (10.4 or later)
MingW32 cross-compiler
