Hi all, Binary packages for older releases of Ubuntu/Debian are available in gnusim8085-admins PPA [1]. Although the packages are only built for Hardy, they will work for any Ubuntu release since 8.04 (Hardy) and Debian release since 5.0 (Lenny). In case you don't want to go through the hassle of adding the PPA to your list of repositories, same packages are available from download page [2] and accessible via summary page [3]. I have added the note about launchpad to the project summary. This shows up on both summary page as well as files page just above the download box. I have also set homepage to our own domain (which redirects to LP page), this shows up on summary page. Onkar |

Congrats on the release! Just a gripe: Users visiting http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnusim8085/ might end up downloading older releases; can we: 1/ disable that big green download button in SF project page 2/ add a note to direct users to the launchpad site for downloads 3/ disable that big green download button in http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnusim8085/files/ 4/ Add a note to http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnusim8085/files/ to tell visitors to that page that they are seeing old releases and the new ones are available at launchpad ? -srid On Sat, Feb 27, 2010 at 10:12 AM, Onkar Shinde <onk...@gm...>wrote: > We are pleased to inform you about the release of GNUSim8085 version > 1.3.6 Linux and Windows platforms. We are pleased to inform you about the release of GNUSim8085 version 1.3.6 Linux and Windows platforms. This is the first stable version after moving over to launchpad for our project management. With this release we bring to our users a wide range of new additions. Read below for some key highlights of this release. We appreciate your continued support in the form of bug reports (with patches ;)) and general feedback. Feel free to ask questions and get support through Launchpad's interface https://answers.launchpad.net/gnusim8085 You can join our development team here - https://launchpad.net/~gnusim8085-devel . We always have some work. Internalization Support ======================= The UI is now internationalized. Translations for Arabic, Asturian, Catalan, Esperanto, French, German, Gujarati, Italian, Kannada and Spanish languages now in place. New Features ============ * Print support - Print your assembly programs and contents of assembly lising window right from GNUSim8085 application. * Improved Windows installer with multi-language interface. The finish screen of installer contains a 'Run Program' option. * Experimental file handling with GIO APIs. Disabled by default. Use --enable-gio configure option to use. Usability ========= Several UI modifications to enhance user experience. * Show/Hide debugging sidepane to adjust horizontal editor screen space. * The assembler messages pane moved to the right to offer increased vertical editor screen space. * Cleared up icon clutter from the user workspace. Bug Fixes ========= Note: We have moved to Launchpad for all our bug management now. Below bug numbers are of SourceForge's. SF#1847830 - Make the UI i18n enabled SF#1942893 - Assembler listing window is too narrow SF#2356534 - Basic File handling errors SF#2462607 - Keypad should not insert instruction code while debugging SF#2462657 - Example programs must be read-only on Windows SF#2580092 - syntax highlighting for labels with underscore in symbol SF#2582426 - syntax highlighting for sp register (stack pointer) Known Issues ============ Minimal testing of printing feature on Windows shows that it does not work as expected. This is nothing specific to GNUSim8085. GTK+ printing APIs are not very well supported on Windows. Internationalized UI is not available on Windows. This will be hopefully fixed in next release. GTK+ runtime needs to be installed separately on Windows. This will be hopefully fixed in next release. Where to download ================= Starting with this release the release files will be available only on Launchpad download page. Please head to https://launchpad.net/gnusim8085 Packages for older Ubuntu releases are expected to arrive soon. Migration to Launchpad ====================== The project management is moved from sourceforge.net to launchpad.net. The work of migrating bugs from sourceforge.net to launchpad.net is in progress. Going forward all the project communication will happen only via launchpad infrastructure. Happy Simulating!!! -- GNUSim8085 Team |

I have a few questions regarding the website. 1. Where will it be hosted? 2. What s/w is to be used? Drupal/Joomla/something else? 3. Where will the packages be hosted? As presently in launchpad and sf.net, or in the site itself? 4. Content? Some unrelated stuff:(shall I create a new thread)? 1.Why is the project called "GNUSim8085 - 8085 Simulator for Linux". It works on other OS s too. 2.Created a wikibook entry. If someone suggests an outline we can start writing. [http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Wikibooks:Collections/gnusim8085] (Still getting the hang of wikibooks. It is a bit different from wikipedia or opensuse.org. The mediawiki versions may be different.) ~ kknundy |

Initial Comment: The assembler listing has the width of a button and barrely anything is visible. It has to be resized every time it is opened. The window width declaration should really be in the glade file, but that's not available. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: SourceForge Robot (sf-robot) Date: 2010-01-06 02:20 Message: This Tracker item was closed automatically by the system. I confirm the bug. The backtrace is attrached to this bug report : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=542945 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Onkar Shinde (onkarshinde) Date: 2009-12-31 01:47 Message: Chitlesh, Can you please explain why you needed to do these changes. There are no hard coded paths in configure.in. Also callbacks.c does not contain any patch to document folder. Further this looks like a packaging problem to me. It seems that the value of prefix passed to configure script is different than where the program actually gets installed. Also <prefix>/share/doc/<name>-<version> does not look a standard install location for documentation to me. It usually is <prefix>/share/doc/<name> only. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Chitlesh Goorah (chitlesh) Date: 2009-12-10 10:58 Message: I got it fixed and pushed to fedora updates: # RHBZ = 542945 sed -i \ "s|share/doc/\${PACKAGE}|share/doc/%{name}-%{version}|" \ configure.in sed -i "s|/usr/local/doc/GNUSim8085|%{_docdir}/%{name}-%{version}|" src/callbacks.c libtoolize --force --copy aclocal automake --add-missing autoconf ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Chitlesh Goorah (chitlesh) Date: 2009-12-03 12:31 Message: No it doesn't print anything except "Segmentation fault" Backtrace: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=375010 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Onkar Shinde (onkarshinde) Date: 2009-12-03 12:10 Message: Chitlesh, Can you please try launching the application form command line and see if it prints anything before crashing? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Aanjhan (aanjhan) Date: 2009-12-03 00:46 Message: I can confirm the crash with svn head. But the Ubuntu package doesnt seem to crash. We might have to check the diff between the two source codes. I remember fixing a similar bug some time back. @Onkar - Any pointers? I will have a look tomorrow during FOSS.IN ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=579699&aid=2907681&group_id=86462 |

Hi all, I have finally managed to give some finishing touches to the i18n infrastructure in our beloved application GNUSim8085. So this is a call for translation in your favorite language (other than English). Few notes about this. 1. We are using launchpad for translations. Go to [1] and get started. 2. Please note that translations done through launchpad need to be BSD licensed.[2] If you are not comfortable with this please do not use launchpad for translations. 3. You can alway submit translations to developers list or as patches when we start using LP for bugs. The license of the .po file needs to specified appropriately. For doing translations offline you can use other tools such as gtranslator. 4. If you plan to create the first version of translations for a particular language please announce it on the list in advance for better collaboration. The copyright of the .po file should be specified accordingly. 5. In case you are not seeing any languages at the bottom of the page [1] then make sure you have more than one languages set in your launchpad profile.
