I have a date file (attached to the ticket) with three columns,
each with a column header:

  • INDEX DATETIME VALUE

Creating a plot via

  • plot TheFile using "INDEX":"VALUE"

works fine. When attempting time plotting via

  • set xdata time
  • set timefmt "%Y-%j-%H:%M:%S"

there is a mix of success and failure:

  • plot TheFile using 2:"VALUE"

works fine, but

  • plot TheFile using "DATETIME":"VALUE"

fails.

I did not find anything in the documentation
indicating that 'xdata time' would not work with
column headers.

Attached are a sample data file,
and a gnuplot script executing the above commands.

Any clarification appreciated,
Burkhard

This report is a duplicate of bug #1161 in the tracker.

Already fixed in CVS fpr 4.7 and next release of 4.6
