Hi,

the size of the box around the legend and the new greyout box is too small for longer key texts on my system (win7, latest 5.0 binary from Tatsuro). With "set label ... boxed", the size is calculated correctly (see example below), so it seems not to be a general problem with the fonts, and it looks the same with any font i tried.

The two problems seem unrelated, as my text2 below gets the right key box, but the greyout box is too small.

The key box also gets too small for text1 in gp465.

There´s one other open bug report (https://sourceforge.net/p/gnuplot/bugs/1224/) on font sizes with wxt, might be the same culprit.

===
text1 = "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
text2 = "dgamma(abs(r))"
text3 = "BBBBBBB"
text4 = "v(r)"

set key box

set label 2 text2 at -0.5, -0.1 boxed
set label 4 text4 at -0.5, -0.3 boxed
plot [-1:1] -x title text2, 0 title text4

pause -1

set label 1 text1 at -0.5, -0.5 boxed
set label 3 text3 at -0.5, -0.7 boxed
replot .2 title text1, .1 title text3

    You don't say the terminal type, but I take it this is with the wxt terminal?

    The boxed text mechanism is totally different from the keybox mouse-sensitive tracking in the wxt terminal. For qt and svg it was to combine these operations but I didn't pursue that option for wxt. It might be possible.

    Yes, sorry. wxt.

    I just checked with svg, where it works but i guess that´s to be expected. I noticed the "boxed" option with "set label" does not work, though. That a bug or simply not implemented?

    (There´s an #ifdef EAM_BOXED_TEXT around the function SVG_boxed_text() in svg.trm. Hm.)

    wxt - It turns out to be easy to change it to use the textbox. I'll make the switch.

    svg - boxed text in svg is limited to background fill (no border). This is useful by itself but the missing border is annoying. The inability to put a fixed-width border around the text box is a well known omission from the SVG 1.1 standard. I believe that it has been proposed for some future version of the standard but has not been accepted to date. I have no idea why.
