Gnuplot 4.4 writes the xlabel correctly under the xtics of the x-achsis.
In Gnuplot 4.6 the xlabel is written in the area of the xtics.
The zip-file includes the plt-file, the eps-images plotted with Gnuplot 4.4 and Gnuplot 4.6 and the csv-file with the data of the plot.

There does seem to be a bug.
Strangely, if you issue a "replot" command then the problem goes away.
So at least there is a work-around available until the bug is hunted down.

    OK. Got it.

The problem arises because the default justification of xtic labels is "CENTER". If you rotate the text about its center then less vertical space is needed underneath the plot. Also it looks silly. If no explicit justification is given in the "set xtics" command, the program uses the default CENTER justification to lay out the plot elements. Then later it realizes this is silly and changes the justification to LEFT, but it's too late by that time.

    So a better workaround is:

set xtics rotate by -35 left

Fix in CVS and will be included in 4.6.1
