#83 Welcome messages to standard output

I have a couple of bash scripts that call IDL repeatedly in a loop and pipe the standard output to a file. For example it loads a file, does some processing, then prints a number.

In GDL this isn't possible, because the welcome messages are printed to the standard output stream, so those are included with my actual ouput. Is there any chance these messages could be printed to the error stream?

I'm using GDL version 0.9.0 on Mac OS X.

Thanks for reporting it - that need to be changed to comply with IDL behavior.
Meanwhile, perhaps the "-quiet" option might help?

Thanks, although I'm still getting messages like "% Compiled module: X" to the standard out, which doesn't happen with IDL..
