From April (the last official release available through update site) some time has passed and there are new features in the plugin. Is there any chance for an OFFICIAL release (posted on the update site and on the main project page), so that one wouldn't need to manually download and extract the .jar file?

Hi,
Liviu told me that he will resume working on the plugin at the beginning of november. So I think he will release a new jar file.
btw: Sorry for the late response, I keep myself busy with my diplom thesis.
I've just returned from a one month mountaineering trip to Nepal (great experience!).
After I clear my TODO backlog (hopefully in 2-3 weeks) I plan to resume work on the plugin.
