Hi,
I have installed Darwin x86 on a PII/233 with LX chipset. The installer on the Darwin-x86 2.5B CD ran perfectly, but I can't get it to load properly from the HDD.
When it starts I see:
Loading Darwin/x86
. before contents not a dir (10 times)
then I get a whole heap of errors about IONDRVSupport, IOATAFamily and AppleIntelPIIXATA. The last error is IOCatalogue: com.apple.driver.AppleGenericPCATA cannot be loaded.
I have tried both the full and base installs. I tried to use the -v boot option but I can't read most of the messages there are too many.
Is Darwin incompatible with my system?
Thanks,
Cartman.

Thank you for your excellent report. Which Darwin installer version are you using? You might want to post this message to Darwin Hackers or Apple's Darwin-x86 list.
I would like to post the report to help development of Darwin but I don't know what version of the installer I used. It is the one that is on the CD. The ISO I downloaded was gnu-darwin-cd-beta2.5-x86.iso.gz.
How do I find out what verison installer I used?

This installer is based on Darwin 1.4.1 which is a quite old release. You might have more success with a recent one. http://www.gnu-darwin.org/index.php?page=installation has links to informations about the cd you used and also about other means of installing Darwin on x86
