    Heya all.

I'm keeping a close eye at this project, but I have a few questions which I hope will be answered.

    1) Will Darwin get a Mac OS look-a-like GUI ? - Please declare the answer if you don't make it look-a-like.

    2) Will Darwin be able to run some Apple Programs ?

    3) Are you working at supporting AMD processors ? If yes, when do you expect to have a version out for AMDs ( we're quite many users ya know ;) )

    4) Are we here talking about a OS which will "shake" the PC world, so that we can get away from Windows ?

    5) How far in the process will you say that Darin is ?

    Sincerly

Thank you for your interest in the Distribution!

We will probably not get an OS X look-a-like interface.  Apple has been quite aggressive in putting down such efforts.  Likewise, most Apple programs depend on proprietary libraries, which are not free software.  It may be possible to run them in some kind of emulation mode, but no work has been done in that direction to my knowledge.

Our AMD-based distribution is already available as a CD image file.

As for shaking the world, perhaps you are thinking of GNU/Linux ;-}.

Call me dumb ( I don't care... as long as I get what I need ::) ) - But I can't locate the AMD version.. could you provide a direct link ? Pretty please.. now that's as far as I will go when it comes to begging ::)

      Cheers

Are you sure this works for AMD ? I'm looking in the release notes files and it says "Known not to be suported: All AMD based chipsets" or something similar.

      ???

That is what Apple's release notes say. Not GNU-Darwin's.  The beta2.5 release contains a generic ATA driver that should work with most chipsets.  It doesn't always do that. And it also doesn't work with all removable media drives (CD/DVD). The only way to find out if it works for your system is to download it and try to install it for yourself. Try reading the mailing list archives for tips on waht to try if it doesn't work. And good luck!
