I'd like to experiment with the Gnu-Darwin ports distribution and have looked at the one-stop script to see what it's going to do.

I already have wget installed and maybe other utilities needed for the distribution and don't want to install them again. Is there anyway to have the distribution check for the existence of tools before blindly installing them? I realize I could edit the one-stop script myself, but I don't want to look at every script to see if it needs modification each time I want to install something.

Also, is there any way to have the software installed in a unique directory (similar to fink's /sw) allowing easy removal if so desired?

Thanks, Jim
