Hi all, It took me ages to figure out where the version 3.50.10-pre1 is (the version that supports Cygwin). Just for anyone else: http://ftp.gnqs.org/pub/gnqs/source/v3.50 Yes, that's right: http protocol to an ftp site! I was totally confused by the fact that the Sourceforge version is dated 1 August 2005, so I thought I was getting the latest version.. Aaaaagghh! Perhaps the developers could add 3.50.10-pre1 to the sourceforge site? Also there's a mistake on the homepage: http://gnqs.sourceforge.net/ See the href below: ------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<----- <p>Please visit the main <a href="http://http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnqs/">GNQS</a> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ page on Sourceforge. <p>Documentation is available on the <a href="http://www.gnqs.org/oldgnqs/docs/">old site</a>. ------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<----- thanks, -biff. ___________________________________________________________ How much free photo storage do you get? Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hi all, I am Dhritiman, am working for Siemens, Germany. We found some problems while working with NQS. We have installed NQS 3.50.9 in a DEC Tru64 V4.0 Machine. After the installation it was running fine but we were unable to add the Scheduler. We did the following.. * We added the scheduler Host entry in the Host.nqs. * Stopped NQS Load_daemon [that was a mistake] * Then we ran a qmgr shut. And from then onwards we are unable to start the NQS process . When we execute "qmgr start nqs" it says "NQS manager[TCML_COMPLETE ]: Transaction complete at local host" but unfortunately there was no NQS process running. We also tried a fresh install in the host but still no use. Can anyone please suggest what might have gone wrong, and what is the solution for this ? Thanks a lot in advance.. Hi I'm running NQS 3.50.9 and I've defined queues as told in documentation: One queue "misc-sched" at the server, and two queues "misc-in" and "misc-dest" at every node. I'm able to submit a job using qsub "script" and then the jobs enters misc-sched, after a while, it enters misc-in at the nodes and then it seems to lock at misc-dest queues at every host in "Arriving state". I've tried to run jobs either as user or as root. The script just contains "hostname", just to see where it gets run. qstat -da shows all jobs and how they are distributed into different hosts (4 diskless nodes with 2 max processes per node and maximum 40 processes at misc-sched) =BFAny idea on what could be the problem? Have you added the machine id's of all the nodes to all of the nodes (or at least the queue manager's mid to the client nodes, and all the client nodes to the queue manager)? The user id's are also required. This is done with the nmapmgr(1M) command. The man(1) page does an excellent job of explaining the theory and usage. NQS version 3.50.9 Debian GNU Linux Testing (kernel 2-4-21) We've four workstations running jobs and one server that "manages" them. On the server we're able to submit jobs using qsub command, and them get executed, as a normal users we're able to put them in queue but they are never executed. =09/etc/passwd is the same on all machines (server and nodes), and /home is nfs shared between machines. A tail -f /var/log/nqs gives (not in order): =09psc_spawn: Rqst not scheduled due to none there. =09Netdaemon: local/client mid conflict. =09Netdaemon aborting =09I can "rsh node hostname" to every node from users, but not from root (but as root queues are run, but not as users) =09=BFAny idea?
