#27 wipes files after long MDI sessions

On version 1.3.3 (slackware8.1 system) after having several files open and editing for several hours, opening and closing numerous files but always keeping 4-10 open, I noticed that, as I was closing some windows others were appearing blank and the file tabs were not displaying properly (ie hitting close on a tab left it there). At this point I discovered it was truncating said files to zero bytes.

Have not had time to try and re-create the effect for documenting the bug.
