Feature description:

On mouseover of a word, in the previewer, display the morphological data on the first line, and definition on the second line from the default lexicon. Allow this feature to work even when neither the Strong's number nor the morphological codes (parsing) are set to display inline in the text. Allow the user to turn this feature on or off in the global preferences.

From what I can see of GnomeSword's current config capabilities, I think this wouldn't be too hard to implement.

Use case:

I would appreciate being able to skim the mouse over the text to get quick confirmation of the definition and parsing of each word. I'd prefer not to see the Strong's numbers inline while reading the text because I find them visually distracting. This is the feature I use the most in BibleWorks, and I expect that is true of other seminary students, pastors, and scholars--it was recommended by my Hebrew professor as a good way to use original language Bible software.

Why this would be nice:

It makes it easy to read the text quickly, without being distracted by extra inline data.

This would indeed be a very useful feature, which BibleTime already has. I much prefer Gnomesword's search and preview to BibleTime's so adding this feature would make it even more helpful.

I would love to see this too I tend to find myself switching between gnome sword and bible time front ends
    to have this functionality.

This feature is the only reason I use Bibletime almost all the time. Having to go through 2 menus to toggle strongs on/off is a real problem for me and keeps me from using Gnomesword. Apart from this issue I like Gnomesword above any other bible software, so if this is not possible could a toggle button/hotkey be added instead?

closed here in sourceforge as we complete our move to github.
    see https://github.com/crosswire/xiphos/issues.
use the Labels pulldown there to distinguish between bugs and enhancements ("feature requests").
