Either through private FTP creds, published file storage (SkyDrive, GoogleDocs, http webhost), external drive or local network.
It would be wonderful to be able to offer this feature to enhance the portability of this application.
I've wanted this as well. At this point, probably the easiest way to do it is to use something like DropBox. Xiphos will allow you to store modules wherever you like if you add the environment variable SWORD_PATH, so it's possible and feasible now.
