sorry for not responding more promptly; things have been rather hectic, and attention to the bug list has been minimal.

are you still getting this bug?

at a guess, it might be the case that you have a module set for parallel view which no longer exists. this is a bug that was fixed some time ago in our development version, due for release "soon".

more to the point, having dealt with several other bug reports... the build of xiphos that is available for ubuntu 11.10 has problems, when it runs at all. we can't even guess what ubuntu has done to us here, but the bottom line for us is that 3.1.4's display methodology, using xulrunner, has been abandoned in favor of webkit, because the xulrunner people themselves are abandoning xulrunner as an independently-usable library.

for now, all we can offer is that you try installing a previous build of xiphos 3.1.4 from the sword-specific ppa, from a previous instance of ubuntu (maverick):
    http://launchpad.net/~pkgcrosswire/+archive/ppa

3.1.5, using webkit as its display engine, and with a whole lot of other fixes and updates, will be released "soon", one way or another.
