Before it displays any windows it crashes. Version is
0.7.9 from the debian packages. It's always done this,
for every version for me, I'm running debian unstable
on an amd thunderbird 700mhz with 628MB. I'm running
NVIDIA's drivers with a geforce 4 agp 128mb ddr ram
video card. Running XFree86 Version 4.3.0 That's all
I can think of that would be useful for you guys.. good
luck, I'll keep checking back for new versions.. if you
guys have any information please e-mail me
(joel@dh-network.com) Thanks.

We really need a bit more information.

Can you run it from a terminal and see if there is any
    interesting output?

Can you run it through strace and provide us with the last
    few lines of output?

Can you run it from gdb and let us see a backtrace?

Gnome gnomesword2 2.0.0 build from tarball
    sword-1.5.7-1 - rpm package
    sword-devel-1.5.7-1 - rpm package

gnomesword2 configures builds and installs with no warnings.
Segfaults immediately upon running (window is visible for a
    second) gnome crash dialog appears.

Do you have any SWORD modules installed?

Run gnomesword from a terminal. What is the output?

Could you please run gnomesword under gdb. When it crashes,
type 'bt' for a backtrace and paste the output here.

    Hi,

Sorry I didn't offer more info to begin with. I've gotten
yelled at by developers for providing one or the other (gdb
or strace) so I'm reluctant to flood ;-)

    You may have both.

    Darn,

I didn't look at the dates of followups before I posted.

    I'll answer your questions too.

Do you have any SWORD modules installed?

I unzipped KJV.zip in /usr/share/sword (which is the
    DataPath specified in /etc/sword.conf).

Run gnomesword from a terminal. What is the output?

    [root@ruin root]# gnomesword2
    gnomesword-2.0.0
    sword-1.5.6
    Initiating Sword

    System locale is en_US.UTF-8

I didn't want to fill up the screen with gdb/strace stuff so
I put the output on my website.

    Grr...

One more thing I forgot. I compiled sword API by hand
(thinking the rpm might have been trashed) which is why CLI
says sword 1.5.6. The segfault happens with the rpm or hand
    rolled sword.

The most recent bug reported here (i.e. the one reported by
ryanpg) is fixed in current CVS. Thanks for the gdb
backtrace, that confirmed that it is the same issue reported
    by others.

Need more info on the original bug (0.7.9 version).

E-mailed Joel asking for more information on the original
    problem.

Joel is unable to give any further information at this time
so I am closing this due to lack of diagnostic information
and the version of GnomeSword being backlevel.
