GnomeSword 0.5.2, sword 1.5.2
Compiled on RedHat 6.2 with Ximian Gnome 1.4 + gcc
2.95.2
and on RedHat 7.2 with Ximian Gnome 1.4 + gcc 2.96

Both versions crash when using reference widget. For
instance, increment chapter to 9 from default of Romans
8.

I can't duplicate this.
does it matter which modules you have open?
Have you tried different Bible Texts and Commentaries?

I get the same problem compiling on RedHat 7.2 with Ximian
Gnome. I've just installed SuSe 8.0 on another machine
(with their Gnome rather than Ximian's and I will shortly
compile on this and report back).

This should be fixed in gnomesword-0.7.3 and sword-1.5.3
