#95 cannot burn audio CDs from mp3 files

I have upgraded gnomebaker from gnomebaker-0.3-1.1.fc4.nr.i386 to
gnomebaker-0.5.0-1.1.fc4.nr. After upgrading it is not possible to
burn audio CDs from mp3 files anymore.

How to reproduct:
1. switch to Audio CD tab
2. add mp3 files to the list

gnomebaker then says that it does not have the plugin for audio/mpeg

Maybe it is because of this warning that sox gives:

Gnomebaker 0.5 uses the GStreamer 0.8 framework. Try
installing the respective packages(include all gstreamer
plugins from your repos) and see what GB tells you.

I have updated gstreamer-plugins RPM to 0.8.8-9, gstreamer to 0.8.10-1 and
they still does not contain mp3 plugin.

I understand that the lack of mp3 support in Gnomebaker is not the flaw of
gnomebaker itself - according to the article http://lwn.net/Articles/165985/
the gstreamer distribution in Fedora lacks mp3 support intentionaly.

It seems that the only way to enable mp3 support in GB is to use mp3
gstreamer plugin provided by Fluendo: http://www.fluendo.com/resources/

I was not successfull in installing gstreamer mp3 plugin from Fluendo because it
is meant for gstreamer-0.10 and there is only 0.8 installed on my FC4.

Maybe Fedora foundation might get a licence from Frauenhoffer/Thomson like
    Sun (http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/planet/)

Anyway, this bugreport can be closed because it is not really a bug in GB itself.

I have downloaded ffmpeg plugin for gstreamer from http://
    gstreamer.freedesktop.org/pkg/fedora/4/i386/RPMS.gst/ and now
    gstreamer recognizes mp3 files:

    [root@erazim Gnomebaker-mp3]# gst-inspect-0.8 |grep mp3
    typefindfunctions: application/x-id3: mp3, mp2, mp1, mpga, ogg, flac, tta
    typefindfunctions: audio/mpeg: mp3, mp2, mp1, mpga
ffmpeg: ffdec_mp3: FFMPEG MPEG-1 layer 3 audio decoder
    ffmpeg: ffdec_mp3adu: FFMPEG ADU-formatted MPEG-1 layer 3 audio
    ffmpeg: ffdec_mp3on4: FFMPEG MP3ON4 decoder
ffmpeg: ffdemux_mp3: FFMPEG MPEG audio demuxer
    [root@erazim Gnomebaker-mp3]#

However, GB still says that it does not have plugin to handle audio/mpeg

No, I haven't. After some searching (via rpm.pbone.net) I have installed
    following packages:

and creating audio CDs from mp3 files works in GB now. (I haven't tested it
fully, but at least GB is not complaining and allows adding mp3 files to 'Audio
disk' tab and the files appear there)

I'm afraid that "regular user" will not be able to get this working just by

I agree that this is a pain but there's very little I can do
as many of the major distributions don't ship with mp3
    support due to legal issues.
