We create chms for our reference documentation (doxygen style), but if the chms become a few MB (like http://www.stack.nl/~marcov/lcl.chm ) gnochm becomes very slow, taking like 40 seconds (on a core2 2 GHz) to load. The CHM has about 17000 files, but it has a binary index, no binary toc (but only one 1MB)
Other CHM viewers load these in one or two secs.
The gnochm I tested is the one standard delivered with Fedora 13 (0.9.11-5)
