GNE developers/users and EGSTank developers: This is addressed to both lists, even though you don't know each other ;). I thought I'd hit 2 birds with one stone. Hmm I just spent the last three and a half solid hours finishing up this tutorial. Lots of people have been complaining that GNE is too hard to use so I wrote up this tutorial. http://www.rit.edu/~jpw9607/gne/tutorials/ Note that this is for the next version of GNE which isn't released as we are still working out compile bugs in mingw for Windows, and with HawkNL in Linux (fixed, but waiting for release of HawkNL 1.6b5 or final). Almost all of it is still directly applicable to GNE 0.45 though anyways. I've really late now and my eyes hurt, so it's not proofed, and I may have made some lame mistakes towards the end ;). GNE developers - please provide feedback. Also EGS developers who might work on networking code will want to read this. I hope to have a very clean GNE 0.55 release which will mark the completion of the mid-level API. With this new tutorial and the interactive installers for MSVC6, MSVC.NET, and mingw I hope the library will move into it's actual "useful" phase rather than it's current phase of "lots of kick ass code that no one but Gillius can figure out."
