Version 0.4 of the Flash Genome Viewer tool is now available for download on sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=27707&package_id=161280
Introduction: Flash GViewer is a customizable Flash movie that can be
easily inserted into a web page to display each chromosome in a
genome along with the locations of individual features on the
chromosomes. It is intended to provide an overview of the genomic
locations of a specific set of features (See http://rgd.mcw.edu/diseases/ for working example).
GViewer as a navigation tool: Individual features can hyperlink out
to a detail page. Bands on the chromosomes can link to defineable
URLs and region selection sliders can select a specific chromosome
region and then link out to a genome browser or other tool. These
enable GViewer to be used as a graphical front end to more detailed
information and higher resolution visualization tools.
The GViewer is highly customizable - colors of the GViewer itself and
the features and titles displayed in GViewer can all be changed to
fit in with an existing color scheme.
Human, Rat and Mouse genome maps and a variety of comparative maps
are provided, other maps can be created via a simple XML
configuration file.
Annotation data can be supplied as a flat file, via a server-side
script or uploaded by an individual user.
New Features in v0.4:
* Javascript connectivity to allow control of the flash display via
javascript - dynamically highlight annotation features and download
annotation data as the user interacts with elements in the main web page
* Region selection tool in Zoom View to allow a region of a
chromosome to be selected and then opened in a genome browser to view
in higher detail.
