Hi Anja, I'm not sure what you're asking. In GFF, the text in the first column is called the reference sequence, and is what all of the features that are displayed in a genome browser are displayed on (that is, the features are in reference to them). With genomes that are well sequenced and annotated, the reference sequence is usually a chromosome, but contig, BAC or transcript are also used as reference sequences. Does that help?
