Boot screen no longer here after upgrade to 16.10

Before I did the upgrade there was a nice boot screen (instead of all the linux boot logs) on start up which was really nice. Since doing the upgrade, it has dissappeared. Is there a way to get it back?
FYI.. I installed onto hardware on an ASUS laptop.
