Hi. I am happy that I came across Glunarclock. However, I have a little problem. I have Gnome 2.28.2 and Scientific Linux (based on Red Hat Enterprise). I installed from sources without problems (configure & make & make install), but .. nothing happend. I dont have any new applets available. What is the problem? |

I installed glunarclock in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx . It says it's installed but I can't find it anywhere. When I click on Add to Panel all I get are the selections that are already installed or ready to be installed if I click on them. is there something I'm doing wrong? |

Hello, I'm using the glunarclock in Xfce4.6 via the Xfapplet. Although technically still in the northern hemisphere, The moon's physical position at my location near Maracaibo, Venezuela, is reversed from that shown by the glunarclock. Perhaps allow the user to Flip the image and not base it on the actual location? I used a similar app many years ago (6 or 8 yrs) in Kde something or other, that did allow Flipping the image depending on local observation. With the current version, glunarclock-applet-2, I must remember to mentally reverse the image. regards, Richard. |

Hello, I've been using the glunarclock applet for awhile and I like it very much. Since Ubuntu is moving to the Unity shell and for the foreseeable future limiting me to using one panel, I wondered if there is any chance the same functionality might possibly integrated with the Weather Indicator? I also filed a wishlist bug on their project page, I didn't know if the two projects might be interested in working together. https://launchpad.net/weather-indicator Best regards |

If that doesn't work, I guess it is a bug---you should report it to the Ubuntu bug tracker. Christine |

Yoohoo! Great work you two! Jon Ciesla wrote: > I pulled this tag, and did all remaining steps, except for submitting > the .pot to the translation project.. I'm not sure how to do that. you send an annoucement of the release to the translation project with a link to the tarball (did you put the pot in the tarball?), as explained here: http://translationproject.org/html/maintainers.html down lower on this page, it talks about how to add the hook to generate a pot in the tarball. maybe you can get that to work. you can (should?) also sign up an e-mail address to receive notifications of new po's for glunarclock. > > I also tried to announce on the website, but I lack the permissions to > save my changes. sure you do! and even if you didn't, you could give them to yourself, since you're an admin! Christine: I also made you an Admin (don't see any reason to have special permissions in a small group like this, and you are now the Chief Developer. would have done this sooner, but just didn't think about it) and granted you shell access, etc. You have to have shell access and copy your ssh key to the right spot, that's all. see: https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/SSH keys after that, the command is like this: josh@maya:~/programs/sourceforge/html_glunarclock$ scp index.php jbuhl,glu...@we...:/home/groups/g/gl/glunarclock/htdocs/ index.php 100% 1545 1.5KB/s 00:00 josh@maya:~/programs/sourceforge/html_glunarclock$ scp news.php jbuhl,glu...@we...:/home/groups/g/gl/glunarclock/htdocs/ news.php 100% 9303 9.1KB/s 00:00 I went ahead and added a news entry on the website already, though. It has the advantage of conforming to emacs outline format, so you get highlighting and can narrow the scope (hide sub-levels of "**...") when viewing the NEWS in emacs. cf. e.g. /usr/share/emacs/22.3/etc/NEWS It would be nice to have it in a consistent format, i.e. the whole file in the same format, but I don't care too much if that's what you want... > > I can confirm that the help now works for me after > installing the package. This resulted in udev being installed through dependencies and it broke my system so completely I had to re-install...) and installed "gnome"...you'd think gnome would require gvfs if it's necessary to display the help files.... Hi, Josh Buhl wrote: > 6. We're not getting a new pot file in the dist....I don't know why. okay, so if you cd to the po/ subdir and run "make glunarclock.pot", then a new pot gets generated (but with "../src" in the path). I think there used to be a hook in the toplevel makefile to generate the pot file when "make dist" was run, but not anymore. I think this is why the pot file (and hence all the po's, which the translators make from the pot) now have "../src" instead of "src/", since it's running from the po/ subdir. I'm not great with make files. Does either of you know how to add the appropriate hook to have the pot file generated when we run "make dist" and to include it in the tarball? -j |

Hi, Jon: I started updating lots of little things for the release, then realized it would have been good for you to have done that, so you know what needs to be done. Here's a List of Things-to-be-Done to get a release ready: 0. do a git pull to get the latest source 1. Download latest po files from translation project (http://translationproject.org/domain/glunarclock.html) and add to po/ (done) 2. Add any new po files to the list in configure.in (done) 3. add any new po authors to AUTHORS file (done) 4. add entry to NEWS for new release and user visible changes (done) (Christine: could you check the NEWS file and add entries for user visible changes...e.g. second click on applet closes moon data dialog and whatever else you changed.) 5. increment version number in configure.in (done) 6. commit all the above changes to git (done, except for more NEWS) 6b. tag the files in git with "Release-0.34.1" or similar 7. run $ ./autogen.sh 8. run $ make dist to generate a release tarball for distribution 9. unpack the tarball somewhere, configure appropriately, make, and run applet to test. 10. cd into po/ and run $ make glunarclock.pot (remove the "../" from the path if you wish. I'll write a separate e-mail about this.) 11. submit the new pot to the tranlsation project. 12. upload tarball to sourceforge and make new release. copy & paste the latest entry from the NEWS file for the release notes/changelog. 13. announce new release on glunarclock homepage 14. optional: announce new release on gnome-announce list (or similar, I can't really remember which list it is...) I think that's it.... good luck -j |

Hi, Christine, could you please also have a look at the dpatch stuff? I added the latest debian/ stuff to git from Fabian Greffrath's glunarclock package and removed the dependency on libxklavier. The debian builds and installs fine. I also removed the patches subdir, since we no longer need them, but when I tried to take out the dpatch stuff in the rules file, the deb didn't build anymore, complaining about "no target for dh_testdir in clean" or similar. Can you fix this? cheers, -j |

Hi, I resolved the show_help problem. gvfs needs to be installed for gtk_show_uri to function. Installing gvfs, and restarting gnome (i.e. logging out and logging back in) and clicking on glunarclock help displays the help dialog. This problem is known, but since packages still function without gvfs, it's only a "recommends" and not a depends on in other packages. cf. debian bug #519159 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=519159 and http://www.mail-archive.com/gtk...@gn.../msg09940.html Our debian files needs at least a "recommends" if not a depends. I don't know how to do this properly...Christine, can you do this? cheers, -j |

Ok, I've got my ssh problems at sourceforge sorted out and I can commit. Here's a summary of the work I've done: 1. Jon: I edited the po's to get rid of the "../", so that it's like it was. Let me know if that fixes your rpm build problems. 2. I've updated the AUTHORS file and credits dialog to include you both. :-) 3. I put the correct version requirement for gtk in configure.in (gtk_show_uri is in version >=2.14) and set the version number to 0.34.1. 3. I overhauled the about dialog and added translator credits, link to website, license, etc. 4. Christine: I had a long look at the help dialog code and even put in the verbatim code from the current fish applet (whose help dialog works for me), but I still get an "operation not supported" error when I try accessing the glunarclock help. Is that the error you get? I agree with your comment in the TODO and think this might have more to do with scrollkeeper (rarian) & yelp thingies (i.e. getting the scrollkeeper db updated properly, like it does when you install properly) then with the code. Also Christine: will you be able to update the debian/ stuff so the deb builds properly? The current maintainer (Fabian Greffrath) is on extended vacation and he said a debian developer could do an NMU. 5. Jon: make dist is working again (don't know why it wasn't before). this is what you'll want to use to generate the official release tarball. 6. We're not getting a new pot file in the dist....I don't know why. -j Josh Buhl wrote: > Jon Ciesla wrote: > >>> See po/as.po line 18. >>> >> Sorry, az.po. > > oh yeah, the path to the file containing the text is in the po...well, > those po files are based on the latest pot file and the intltools > (gettext, etc.) generate the pot file from the source code.
