For first tests it may be a good idea to use only the "test" program plac= ed in=20 the different driver's directories. It can read the data from the device=20 using the driver and you get a quick information if it works or not ... m= aybe=20 it has to be adapted slightly. Yours, Gerrit Albrecht |

The gzipped tarball is about 7.2k, would it be more appropriate to send it as an attachment to the list,or directly to your return address? The communications appear to be in one of the standard ascii formats with plain text commands but verifing that will take me some time.I've downloaded the source for kpump & the onetouch driver but it will take me a lot of comment reading to understand them. For the parameters just use the standard settings. Hopefully they don't u= se=20 excotic parameters. Okay, the speed may differ. Feel free to look at the=20 currently published driver sources. First you have to get the commands (e= =2Eg.=20 from an serial log) and their responses from the device. Is it possible to get the serial logs and the corresponding data (just ex= port=20 the newly fetched data to an excel- or xml-document)? I don't know if it'= s=20 possible to "read" the raw data, but maybe it is... Then, maybe I could w= rite=20 a simple driver for the device, send it to you and you can tell me if it=20 works or not (and so on)... Thanks in advance, Gerrit Albrecht P.S.: I've googled and found a nice looking (and free) serial port monito= r. http://sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/portmon.shtml |

I have a Medisense Precision Xtra meter with the Windows based Precision Link software and the serial adapter cable.I would like to be able to use the meter with linux based apps. Unfortunately I have no experience writing drivers, or serial apps.If anyone could give me some advise on how to derive the serial connection specifics (xon? 8bit?) ,and the commands the meter is using I would greatly appreciate it.I have logged a couple of sessions using a trial version of HHD serial monitor, but I can't afford to purchase the program so I won't be able to use it on a regular basis, but do have some info if I knew how to interpret it. da ich gerade an einem programm, das als tagebuchverwaltung für diabetiker dient arbeite, habe ich mir gedacht, daß euch vielleicht ein Screenshot interessiert.
