1st test of a new level
I dont actually know what im doing however at least it shows some 3rd part progress for level design.(as well as drakens cool levels.)
me again (this is probably the most active this forum been in along long time. lol
In the above picture i was experimenting with my own 3d models as backdrops. At the moment i am unsure how to set colours on it. also how to make items "solid" (driving inside the new wall is awsome though:D!!!)
oh and for any1 who even cares that arena alone is 4468 polygons. (excluding the 4 light cycles and recogniser).
Wow... ok looking at these... my levels look no where as good...
Anyone want to pick up the conversion process? This proves to me that I (currently) really suck at 3d design >.<
Ill give it ago if you want. but my time is very limited. so dont expect an over night miracle lol!

But, yea. From the work I've done just struggling to create a square level to start with... I really need to up my skills on this before I can remotely started remaking those levels myself.
...When I made those arenas I used my TI-83 calculator to help me with all the math that was needed. Here I have to tackle the 3rd demention whenever I want to move something (i.e. I move something to match a coner of something else and it ends up about 1000 units away on a whole different direction >.< People who use 3d modeling software I hope will know what I mean) Still it would help if I could find out how to conect two planes >.< I have trouble following a lot of the toturials. I'm a tinkerer so I learn best from reverse enginering... but I can't seem to get Andreas' levels to load into Blender.

anyway the problem im having is colour. none of my levels ahve them and i can work out why.
Please send me the level you made (in the native format of your modeller, and in the exported version you load into GLtron (watch out, has there been a .mtl file created somewere?). I'll look into it
a bigger picture with the last attempt on it...a roof!
and to show that speed has not been compromised a small mpg (713k) copy and paste it into a download manager

your right about that plugin in blender. I use 3dmax 7 but gltron doesnt understand the obj script so i import my 3d max object into blender and then blender to gltron. awkward but it works...
Can you send me the output of the 3ds max .obj export? Maybe there's only a small change needed...
oh yeah btw how do i add colour to the floor & roof files or at the moment is that not possible

I am having trouble with the "ring course" i cannot get any colour on the inside walls (without losing the outside walls alltogether). this is turn has made a see through ring in the middle of course which you cannot go through.
I have made this into a fully working artpack. bear in mind it is only in beta.
The hud is horrible so you can see the inside wall when playing (it makes sence then trust me).
There are still bugs that need ironing out. any1 care to have ago?
lol my courses ended up the same i had agreat 1 involving a + shape (at least i think i made that i cant remember lol) as for blender i didnt follow the advice on the wiki i downloaded the plugin. but instead of that alt-o alt-p crap (i usally use shortcuts honest) i just clicked file import object (obj)it worked better.
Slight misunderstanding: The script is for exporting (i.e. saving) FROM Blender INTO a format GLtron can read. Of course, importing (i.e. loading) into Blender is a different matter.
