It's too bad that the C++ standard has that problem with temporary L-values. You know I hate macros :), but in this case I think it's needed in order to make the library easier to use. > > Also, I don't particularly care for the name of FontStream... Both TextStream and Stream sound fine by me. You can pick your favorite. cheers, -Ben Scott |

I got to thinking... How would you feel about a GLTEXT_STREAM or GLTEXT_FONT_STREAM to replace the crappy FontStream(renderer).get() stuff you have to do now. I think no matter how much I justify it, the .get() is not intuitive at all, especially since you don't even need it in VC7. However, if you leave it out when using MIPSPro or gcc, you'll end up with random stuff in your stream. So I think a macro here would make more sense to a lot of people... They wouldn't have to see the magic behind how streaming works: #define GLTEXT_STREAM(renderer) gltext::FontStream(renderer).get() Also, I don't particularly care for the name of FontStream... You aren't streaming a font, you're streaming text to a renderer. Perhaps TextStream or just gltext::Stream? What do you think? Chad |

gltext's SCons build only builds the library and not the examples and test suite by default. Why is this? Sometimes errors only show up in a library when you are trying to link them into an executable. (And on IRIX, sometimes they don't show up until you RUN your executable!) Therefore, I would recommend linking at least one program with gltext in the normal build. Also, the autodist stuff doesn't work in Cygwin, because of the .exe suffix on executables. I get the following error: Administrator@PYRALLIS /d/projects/gltext/gltext $ scons examples scons: Reading SConscript files ... scons: done reading SConscript files. scons: Building targets ... scons: *** [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'examples/simple/simple' scons: done building targets. I don't know what is happening. |

Sounds good to me. I haven't exactly kept ABI compatibility yet. The project is just too new. -ben Chad Austin wrote: > It makes a lot more sense for CreateFont to be named OpenFont. It makes a lot more sense for CreateFont to be named OpenFont. Since I'm breaking binary and source compatibility left and right, now's a good time to change it if any is. Should I change it or leave it be? Chad |

hi, I've found this project while looking for an AI and it seems very interesting, even if it's only at embryonal state. I'd like to take part to the project as developer, you can see my profile @ http://sourceforge.net/users/el_simeon/ please remember that I could work on this project only in the weekend since I don't have much spare-time,so if you think it's not the case for me to join your group I won't take it as offence :) |
