I downloaded both 32 and 64bit versions and copied dll and lib files into corresponding folders(system32, systemWOW64, vc\lib and vc\lib\armd64). I can build the project to both win32 and x64 platform but failed to run the executable with error “the application was unable to start correctly(0xc000007b)”. However, when I commented the sentence "GLenum err = glewInit();" and rebuild it, things go just right. so what's wrong with my glew installation? How can I fix this problem?

I'd generally discourage copying GLEW .dll files into system directories.
I recommend putting the .dll in the same directory as the application .exe or .dll that is using it.

    Nigel Stewart is right.
With me it works IF AND ONLY IF glew32.dll is located in the same folder as the *.exe file of my project (the one generated by the compiler, MS Visual Studio 2010 Express).
I really tried every other solution I found on the web but none of them worked.
Sounds slightly insane, but this seems to be the only option.

Placing glew32.dll and glew32.lib (32 bit) in the same folder worked for me. Thanks
