hi, I have pushed quite a number of changes into the GLC CVS tree. These are: * New architecture. I've changed GLC so that it can now write python code with bindings to Tkinter/Pmw. The way that I did this was to move out the majority of GTK specific code to a glade_to_gtk module and to write a glade_to_pmw module that writes out code with pmw bindings. One word sums this up: plugins The benefits of this architectural change means: * GLC can now be used to support theoretically any widget set. * If GTK evolves to a point where rewriting GLC to support those changes would be too much of a headache.... This would never happen, as a new plugin would just be needed. * Zooming out to the 'big picture', Glade can now be used for developing non GTK apps. Hopefully this will get even more people wanting to help out on the development of Glade. * Applied some patches, giving support for custom widgets, GtkMenu, GtkMenuBar and GtkMenuItem. I was planning on just trying to fix the bugs that I find until I become more familiar with the code. Then I'm going to start splitting the code apart since the majority (something like 60%) of the code is in the same function... > > Yeah, that would be me. BTW I did some of my first updates in cvs last night if you want to check them out. I fixed the problem with drop down menus (that I mentioned in Public Forums) and now the output code has the proper #!/usr/bin/env python at the top. This weekend I'll try and fix the separator problem. Bryan |

Yeah, that would be me. I was subscribed under this address (which the other forwards to), but I switched it on sourceforge so it now shows the katarata address. Thanks, Bryan |

Using the version off of the main web-site (not the CVS version I'm using now). I found the following bug: I created a glade file with a "Gnome Stock Button": GNOME_STOCK_BUTTON_HELP Since on line 392, glc tries to read the key 'label', and stock buttons don't have labels.... glc crashes there. I think this is related to the menu seperator problem mentioned in the open forum. Is there a good solution for this that people know about? Ciao! PS: I CC'd katarata at users.sourceforge.net because I didn't see you subscribed to glc-devel. Hello, One bug I found is that if the labels on the tabs of a GtkNotebook don't have the same 'name' as their 'label'-content, the program will fail. (In concrete, in glade you have to fill in the same for Name: and Label:) Further it seems to have problems with a seperator in a menu, this seems to be not a real widget, and doesn't have a label. I hope this small trouble report helps :) For the rest, keep up the good work, but right now I think I will stick with python-glade for a while. Here's my todo list of some things I want to get completed with glc relatively soon. If you think you can help out e-mail me privately and I can give you cvs access. - Get menuing dropdowns working. (Done except still need to submit it into the cvs tree) - Get letter highlighting working where it translates _File into File with the F underlined and not just _File. - When clicking on the button to exit the program, actually exit and not hang. There's not really that many members in this mailing list (2 right now including myself), so any other ideas would be great. Thanks, Bryan Stillwell |
