Hello Jeff, I'm now registered as a SourceForge user

I reply to your message in the patch section, not the
features request one, because it seems there is no way
to attach patch files in the submit form of the latter
one.
Here is the patch to add pre-2.4 kernel compatibility
for Sparc Happy Meal Ethernet card like it was
supported by the first release of ethtool (1.0),
followed by an attempt to make ethtool more user
friendly when the default behavior (getting settings)
is not implemented by the device driver: in default
operation mode (1 arg), it now tries to display both
card settings and driver information. New -g option is
added to only get the former output.
I hope both patches will be added to the next release.
btw, can you give me a schedule for it?

    Can you re-diff against current ethtool cvs?

    And, do not make pre-2.4 compatibility an option. Just make
    it ifdef __sparc__.
