No

I am not the only person that has this problem. My search has turned up many people that have this same problem with the via 82c686 chipset.

The problem is MP3 files play about 10 seconds too fast per minute. The system clock will show one minute has passed and the MP3 player will show one minute and ten seconds has passed. It does this no matter what MP3 player I use.

Also WAV and AU files play so fast that they sqeak.

I have used the 2.4.0 kernel, and the latest alpha-10 patch with no avail.

I have used both modules and compiling the drivers in the kernel with the same results.

Hopefully it is nothing stupid on my part, but I have searched the net for a few days and read all the documentation I could find without a clue on what is causing this.

Here is my system information:

As an itermediate fix, I installed the alsa-project drivers which work fine except when I launch a app from X that utilizes sound. When I launch the same app from a shell, it works fine......... go figure? Not sure what the difference between clicking on an icon or selecting a menu and typing the command in from a shell.

When I do launch a sound app from X (clicking on an icon, selecting a menu), the sound warbles. Really weird, but I can live with it in the meantime since I can just lauch the same app from a shell and the sound works perfect.
