I came here following a link in my searches for help with my griffin powermate, and thought that this could be the perfect solution for getting my old N52 gaming keypad to be re-mappable under linux.  There is currently kernel support for the N52, but no way that I know of to make a custom keymap for it.  It defaults to the upper left corner of a standard US keyboard, minus the left column e.g. QWERT, ASDFG, ZXCV.  This is hardly an ideal solution, as those keys are in the wrong spot from where I want them.  Am I correct in understanding that gizmo will trap the events at the event level, and prevent the device from sending the default key presses to the system?  I won't have time to really dig into it until this weekend, but getting an idea of feasibility will help me prioritize it among other projects, notably my Mythbuntu box (using the powermate and hauppauge 250 remote).
