    Hi

I just got a griffin powermate today, and having a load of fun.
Initially I installer powermated and it worked nicely, then I noticed that the better thing to do would be to use gizmod as it is the next big thing..

I'm battled through the python config script (which I have to say is pretty nasty, despite being very powerful if you know what on earth is going on!), and have most things I want working.

The one thing that I'm missing is the pulse mode where the led just goes up and down smoothly (it did that nicely from the commandline in powermated).
Also is there a way of switching between visuals easily?  Its not obvious to me !

    thanks

    Nigel

      Oh and I forgot!

Is it possible to modify two audio levels simultaneously?  My audio card forces me to have to modify two sliders seperately one for the main speakers (hw0:Front) and headphones (hw0:Headphones), I can do one or the other but not both.

The mute setting doesn't put up anything with the XOSD...

It is definitely possible to modify two audio levels simultaneously.  You just need to load two alsa plugins, one for each mixer.  The only catch is you have to modify the rest of the script to deal with the additional mixers.  Sigh.  Like I said, I've learned a lot from this version... the next will be much better.

As for the XOSD, I'm ripping it out for gizmod3.  It's unmaintained, and most of the serious bugs in gizmod are directly related to bugs in xosd.  I've even emailed patches to them, but they've (as of yet) been unaccepted.  It'd be  nice if there was an alternative.  At any rate, if I was you I'd just turn off the XOSD plugin -- it's unstable.

        Tim.

      Hey Nigel,

I'm ramping up for gizmod3, so unfortunately gizmod2 has kind of fallen by the wayside.  I realize that the python script is a mess, and I don't think many people are really using it.  It seems to cause more problems than benefits.

Gizmod3 will be simpler, and only support useful functions.  I'm also thinking that it'll have a simple GUI for configuration.  Almost the opposite of what gizmod2 aimed to be.

      Tim.

      hi tim,

      Gizmo3 Sounds good!
what are you building it in?
If its C/C++ I can lend a hand!

For some reason after rebooting the CPUUsage and SoundVisualizers ahve stopped working and the volume light goes off once you stop changing the volume... weird!

      cheers

      Nigel
