Ali,

There are a lot of features of git that aren't yet available in gitclipse. 
This just happens to be one of many.  We would gladly accept patches to 
add that functionality if you or someone felt compelled to write the code.

There is also another eclipse plugin for git that you might want to give a 
go as an alternative:
   http://code.google.com/p/egit/
