Dear Brian, Sorry you are getting frustrated with the set up. I have only ever used the ginp with a public collection first but maybe there is a problem if there is password protection on all the collections. The set up wizard in the latest stable version builds a config file and sets its location. In the development version this has been changed to be a known location which will maybe make this more reliable. Unfortunately I have not finished programming this. It would however let you configure the ginp manually, so I will try to tidy this up and publish a new version. I have not got round to working on the ginp for a while but if there are users out their with problems then this is encouraging.
