When trying to capture a Window on Mac OS X, the produced image is garbage.
I am trying to capture window at 300x300 ppi.
Gimp 2.6.8 for Snow Leopard
Mac OS X 10.6.2
2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Window to capture (taken from Mac Screen Capture , 72 ppi)
I have a screen shot of the image capture, but have not figured out how to upload more than one attachment on the bug system. The captured image in Gimp is a series of random colors.
Yep, screenshots are garbled on OS X. This is related to hwo X11 on Mac OS X handles the screen. There's no root window. But as GIMP uses the root window to make a screenshot, it will only get random data. That's what you see.
I've done some patching an hacking on the sources of the screenshot plugin. Now it will work and take screenshots as expected. The only difference to the original plugin is, that the window decorations (the title bar) will always be included. IMO this is not too bad.
And I've added a new feature. You now can specify if you want to include the window shadow, if you take a picture of a certain window. IMO this is very Mac-ish :-)
The new plguing will be included in the next release. I'm currently triying to fix another issue (the color picker bug). If I get this to work, I'll make a patch relaese of GIMP 2.6.8 including both fixes.
... fixed in 2.6.8p1 for Snow Leopard and in 2.6.8 for Leopard
