Welcome to the G3D code..

Hi Guys-

The full codebase in the main zip files is the entire project "as-is" with all extra required files (such as glut stuff, etc.), there is no documentation and comments are sparse (as some of you have noticed :)

I'm available to answer any questions (and I will be cleaning up and documenting the codebase based on the order of feedback/issues I receive)..

Compiler:

The last build was for VS2008, I'll be putting together VS2005 and VS6 build (for those who really want it), there won't be a mac version until the guts are isolated and there is an interface for a new GUI..

The majority of the code is straight c/c++, but the platform-specific stuff (win32/mfc/opengl/devil) is mixed throughout the files, so porting to any non-MSVC compiler is out for now..

Bugs:

The freeware version had a few bugs that slipped by, now that the code is opensource it will be easy to incrementally address bug fixes, etc. without requiring a new setup or distribution..

Please report any and all bugs with vigor and enthusiasm :) Many may already be on my list, there are a few minor things that I'm aware of already (most related to that mfc-skinned GUI), but otherwise the core code is pretty stable..

Disclaimer - Future Development:

I have non-compete agreements with misc. clients and it is possible that some future areas of G3D development may overlap or cause a conflict of interest..as a result, it's possible that some advanced features that "could" be implemented in G3D might be off the table for me..

I'm free to support the existing version (and any ideas presented), I'll have enough on my hands with cleanup and documentation so I may just leave future advances to everyone else :)

High-Res Support:

There are issues with very high-resolution images (performance and otherwise), I will add a few fixes so that high-res images run smoother, this won't be a significant change in functionality, just behind the scenes fixes..

I'll likely add a short blog post for each new update (for the near future), if you need anything in the meantime feel free to email me directly, I'm generally responsive..

Thanks
-René
