Hi,
My new printers Hiti P525L with firmware V1.02 or V1.28.0v (this version cames with 2 names) not print. The old printesr Hiti P525L not have that problem.
What could I do, try to install a previus firmware? maybe try with the mac firmware?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Regards,
P.

...Lovely. I wonder if this is a variation of the USB bug with fw
1.19-1.21 that also prevented printing? Or if HiTi changed something in
the communication protocol?
I have a P520L printer here but it is buried in storage until some
construction work is finished.
Just to be clear, you are using the same Gutenprint code with both?
What is the firmware version of the printer that works?
Yes, we are using the same Gutenprint with both, it's the same computer actually.
Old printers are working with firmware 1.28, new printers came with v1.01.2 and can be upgraded to v1.02, both firmwares fail on linux (Gutenprint).
In Windows it was necessary to install a new driver for the printer to work with both firmwares
Do you know if it can downgrade the firmware of Hiti printers?
Thanks,
P.

What version of gutenprint?
These version numbers are confusing; v1.28 was what you said did NOT
work. I think the FW version can be displayed on the printer's LCD
screen. Press
We are using the Gutenprint 5.3.4, it was installed, in july, following the instructions in https://www.peachyphotos.com/blog/stories/building-modern-gutenprint/
Sorry about the confusion about firmware, in the Hiti Website, the firmware update are v1.02 and v1.28.0 for the same download. If you try in old printer say is updated, and new printers came with the v1.01.2 and can update to v1.02 as you can see on the attach files.
About downgrading, I'm leaving that option for now.
Thanks,
P.

Ok, so it's pretty recent then.
Can you tell me what the printer itself claims the (working, and
non-working) FW version to be? (IIRC if you press 'menu' on the printer
four times it will show the FW version)
These are the photos of the FW of the printers, the new FW is 1.01.2 and the old FW is 1.19.0.X
But I just saw, the new ones that don't have the L in the model could be a new printer model?
Hello, do you have any news?
Thanks.

I'm in the middle of relocating my office -- I've been working out of a
small camper for the past year, so nearly all of my printers have been
in storage. The good news is that just today I finally retrieved my
P520 (and all the other printers) from storage and moved them into the
new office. Unfortunately there are still a few other things I need to
do before I can set up any printers.
(...minor things like connecting electrical outlets, pulling ~100m of
fiber, and installing the air conditioner..)

As of a few minutes ago, I fixed a couple of bugs affecting the P52x
series. The P520L is confirmed working with firmware v1.23 and v1.28 and
I expect the P525 should also work.
Please update to the latest gutenprint and selphy_print code using the
instructions here:
https://www.peachyphotos.com/blog/stories/building-modern-gutenprint/
(I haven't updated the copy in gutenprint yet; I'd like this more widely tested
first, seeing as how P52x printing has been broken for about six months!)
Same here
Just bought printer directly from HiTi website

This is quite old, current verstion is 0.47 (From about five months ago)
See the instructions here:

(They're written for debian/ubuntu, but shouldn't be too hard to adapt
to RHEL/CentOS/etc... I don't have a EL9 install handy..)

Well, it was relatively easy to upgrade to latest snapshot from sf: 2022-06-24T01-00-8808d602, but it returned following:
DEBUG: # HiTi Photo Printers version 0.40
and it won't print either
how can i get 0.47?
also, will provide you instruction on rpm build

Do any of you manage to solve your issue? I also just got this printer.
And I want to connect it to an rpi. An important question does gutenprint would still add the driver on the arm platform? (because I know hiti doesn't provide any ARM build on their official website.)
Yes
Updated to latest version of driver from Solomon, updated printer to latest version of firmware. It doesn't work with older version now.

I'm closing this, the P525 is reported working with current code and up-to-date firmware.
