#565 Canon i80 utilities - ink level, nozzle check, etc under Mac OS X 10.11

I just installed Gutenprint to use an Canon i80 printer. I wasn't clear from info in the manual about the Canon backend. Is there a way to have the original canon utilities functions w/ Gutenprint (or any other solution) on Mac 10.11 El Capitan? Functions such as: Ink level status, nozzle check, test print, alignment, etc ?

Hello,
I don't think that is possible through CUPS/gutenprint. The Canon
utilities appear to be intended to work through the Canon driver which
would give some back channel communication.
For other solutions, on linux there are "ink" and "inkblot" programs
that use the libinklevel library. I cannot tell whether the i80 would
be supported or not, and also not if there is a part of the library
and program(s) to MacOSX.
