That's a good question.  We could create separate file releases for
each different packaging format (tarball, .deb, various .rpm), but
then we'd have the monumental headache of keeping everything in sync
(when I want to release 3.1.5, how do I make sure everything gets
built?).  I think there are other ways of releasing files on
Sourceforge, though, but they all have that problem.  So probably
creating separate file releases for each different format would be the
way to go.
