What 2.2.15 does add is I2O support. Bang goes that > idea. The 2.2.x kernels contain a frail and mostly non-functioning USB driver. Look on http://www.linux-usb.org for a link to the 2.3.x backport drivers (patches to the 2.2.x sources for the new 2.3.x USB drivers...) I ran into some occasional data glitches with backport drivers from 2.3.20 or so, but haven't had a chance to update my kernel to the newest version to see if the problem is fixed; I also am using ext3fs, and its patch doesn't apply well to 2.2.15 right now... Anyways, IIRC USB can run up to 12Mbits/sec which puts it at least as fast as the theoretical limit for IEEE-1284 (ECP or EPP mode, don't remember which) I haven't noticed any speed difference in actual print times (printer is slower than the interface...) -- ______________________________________________________________________ Michael Sweet, Easy Software Products mi...@ea...
