Hi, I have a Canon BJC8200 printer, featuring 6 colors, 1200x1200 DpI^2, microfine droplet technology (=variable drop sizes?), and support for a new type of paper, Photo Paper Pro. I would be happy to test the gimp-print plugin with my printer. So far I can produce acceptable prints using ghostscript with it's uniprint device driver. For this purpose I made new uniprint control files (*.upp) for the BJC8200. They are available at http://www.stelab.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~scb/uniprint and are also included in (Aladin) ghostscript >=6.21. The gimp prints well with my printer when using ghostscript and the right *.upp files. When looking at the source code of the gimp print plugin (version 3.1.4), I noticed that support for printing directly (not via ghostscript) to Canon printers is being prepared, but the BJC8200 model doesn't seem to be working yet. As said above, I could assist in the development as tester. Regards, Stephan Buchert |
