I will give it (the gtk version) a shot when I can (my parents are
visiting from out of town this weekend, so it will likely be next
week).  Robert, can you give me a hint on how to apply a patch in cvs? 
I haven't done that before.

Thorsten, can you email me any further changes you'd like?  I'm tracking
down a few remaining segv's resulting from a switch to a notebook
version of the gui, and would like to avoid making the same changes
multiple times.  I think I'm very close on the notebook version.
