I’ve just installed your Gutenprint 5.3.3 on my computer, running macOS 10.13.6, High Sierra. When I opened it, I saw the 6 files in it, including the installer, but also another one named libusb—1.0.22.high_sierra.bottle.tar.gz. I proceeded to install gutenprint-5.3.3.pkg. I then opened (decompressed) libusb—1.0.22.high_sierra.bottle.tar.gz, since I running High Sierra. It just puts out a lot of files. What is that for, what am I to do with those files? Or, is that just something the installer will use when it sees it is installing to High Sierra? I restarted the computer, just to be sure. I then went to try to set up my Canon Pixma MX922, which your Website said is supported by Gutenprint 5.3.3. The printer is turned on, I am connected with a USB cable (which works fine on my Epson, so it is a good cable). But when I click in the System Preference pane Printers & Scanners, the Canon is not listed under the Printers list on the left. OK, maybe when I seek to add it. I clicked on the + sign, the window to add it opened, but it is blank. (It is opened in the Default tab. But neither the IP tab nor Windows tab appear to be pertinent.) I can’t put anything in the spaces other than the search bar at top. I put in “Canon Pixma MX922“ and ran the search. It came up with nothing, not even your driver. I’m dead in the water on this. Why is your driver not being found? What do I need to do. I was expecting what it meant by printer not seen was that it had no driver. The printer is connected with a known, good USB cable. I note, I checked under /Library/Printers/ and I do see Gutenprint.printer Driver folder int here. I see nothing in it where I can confirm it is supporting Pixma MX 922. But tis’s there, I presume it is the needed driver. Why if that not being found when I try to set up this printer? Thank you. Kevin |
