   It's _NOT_ necessary for the stc740. That's all I know. I think that every
   printer _AFTER_ the 740 needs this string.=20

Well, there you go.  I think the 900 is a later generation than the
740, even though they're both listed as 99a printers.  I suspect the
870 is going to be the same as the 900 in this regard.
