Black-to-white wedge also prints a lot better, and photos are indeed improved a lot in dark areas. Also took the time to test 720 softweave, 1440 High Quality, 1440 Enhanced and the 2880x720 resolutions. All work, but the high resolutions have strange artefacts. The 720 softweave, which does not show the artefacts, and the 2880x720 version, both printed with Random FLoyd Steinberg, can be found here: http://people.a2000.nl/ztonino/dither/2880x720RandomFS.jpg http://people.a2000.nl/ztonino/dither/720SoftweaveRandomFS.jpg The cyan in the top right of the 720 version is a scanner problem. Problems I see with the 2880 version: The light wedge at the top has streks where yellow is missing (you cannot see this with the bare eye). Under the 80 of 2880 there is a bit of overshoot of magenta at the top, and in the top left corner at the top there is some magenta where not other colors were printed. The biggest issue is the face. That dark areas become very red is not that bad, but look at the cyan line at the top right of the head that is set just a little bit inside the hair, and the eyebrows that look like they're painted in. Seems something is shifting around here. The original is: http://people.a2000.nl/ztonino/dither/me2.jpg Thomas |
