As Robert says, the dithering support is all present, it just needs the "nuts and bolts" bits sorting out. What are the two extra colours - I assume they are "light magenta" and "light cyan". How do you tell the printer to expect the extra colour planes? This could be what the "configure palette" command is for, or it may be coded in the "configure raster data" command. Neither of these is documented by HP as far as I can tell. What order are the planes to be sent to the printer? For normal colour, they are sent in the order "KCMY", is it now "KCcMmY", or maybe "KCMYcm"? Does the photo mode support more than 2 level dithers (like the 800 series)? Other than that, it should be quite easy!
