It works pretty much the same as with that epson printer already supported by gimp-print, namely by providing two additional colors. I'd love to help with development as good as I can,but I've never done dithering etc. before. Unfortunately,HP does no longer explain their computer->printer protocol (PCL) in their manuals as they did with the 500 series.
